Subscribers of SFR and Bouygues Telecom were deprived of mobile networks in major French cities on Friday and Saturday.
A weekend that started very badly for many SFR and Bouygues Telecom subscribers who were deprived of 4G. Blame it on a glitch that occurred on Friday. Several major French cities were hit, such as Paris, Toulouse, Lille, Dijon, Lyon, Paris, Marseille and Bordeaux.
On Twitter, SFR communicated about this technical incident: “A hardware malfunction related to a radio site is at the root of the disturbances you experience in your calls and/or mobile internet use,” said the operator.
Bouygues Telecom for its part announced on Saturday: “As a result of a technical incident, you may experience problems using your mobile line and we are sorry. Our teams are mobilized to restore your services as quickly as possible. We thank you for your understanding.”
According to BFM TV, the cause of the outage is a problem related to the sharing of part of the mobile network between the two operators, particularly in sparsely populated areas. If the latter have not yet communicated about a return to normal, the incident seems to be completely resolved.
